Add Favicon to WordPress Backend

There are so many themes available, which gives you the option to easily add favicon to your WordPress Sites’s Front End. But have you ever wondered how to add favicon on your WordPress Back-end ? Yes, you can do that.

There are many ways to add favicon to the WordPress Back-end. Some of us use various plugins, available while others directly modify their WordPress core, the latter is not recommended for many reasons. The method I am going to show you works with all themes, is future update friendly and is very easy to implement.

All you have to do is to open your theme’s (or child theme’s) functions.php and copy-paste following code.

// Display Favicon on WordPress Backend
add_action('admin_head', 'show_favicon');
function show_favicon() {
echo '<link href="//yourwebsite.com/favicon.png" rel="icon" type="image/x-icon">';
}

DO NOT forget to replace the favicon URL with your URL of the favicon.
